Roller derby was first started on the 13th of August 1935. It was at the Chicago Coliseum. It is said to have come from an event promoter Leo Seltzer who had worked with the walkathons looked for something new and a little more interesting to get the attention of depression-era crowds.

Artistic roller skating is a sport that is often considered to be a combination of figure skating, ice dancing, and acrobatics. It is a sport that is performed on quad skates, and often includes elements of jumps, spins, and lifts.

Ultimately, whether or not you consider artistic roller skating to be a sport is up to you. It is a unique activity that combines elements of both sports and art.

Which Type or When Roller Skating is not a Sport?

With so many different types of skating out there, it can be hard to figure out which ones are actually considered sports. For the most part, anything that involves racing or competition can be classified as a sport, but there are always exceptions to the rule. For example, roller skating will not be considered a sport if it doesn’t involve any of the following:

-Racing or competition of any kind

-Physical contact between skaters

-Performing tricks or jumps

So, if you’re just going for a leisurely skate around the block with your friends, you’re not participating in a sport. However, if you’re skating in a competition or trying to do tricks like jumps and spins, then you could be considered to be participating in a sport.

Of course, there are always going to be people who disagree with this classification, but for the most part, roller skating is not considered a sport unless it meets the above criteria. So, if you’re just out for a leisurely skate, don’t worry about being classified as a “athlete” – you’re just enjoying a fun activity!

To me, roller skating is both a hobby and a sport.

Roller skating and Olympics

The sport of roller speed skating made its first appearance as an Olympic demonstration event at the Summer (Youth) Olympic Games in Nanjing, China in 2014.

After that, in 2018, it took place at the Paseo de la Costa from 7th to 8th October, 2018, where it made its full Olympic debut at the Summer Youth Olympic, Buenos Aires.

But the traditional roller skating is not in the olympic, The roller skating championships are conducted all over the world, but it has not been able to expand its reach globally and that is why it is not considered an Olympic sport.

Some people believe that roller-skating should be added as an official sport in the Olympics, as it is a widely practiced sport with a long history. Others believe that the IOC should not add any more skating sports to the Olympics, as there are already too many like figure skating, ice hockey, etc.

What do you think? Should roller-skating be an official sport in the Olympics?

In conclusion, roller skating can be considered a sport because it meets some of the requirements, such as being physical and competitive. However, it is not considered a major sport by most people. Roller skating does have the potential to be a major sport, but it needs more recognition and support to grow. If you are interested in roller skating, please go out and try it. You may find that you enjoy it and want to pursue it further.
